soundhound라는 음악 검색 스마트폰앱이 등장했다. 이 앱은 흘러나오는 음악을 인식해서 원곡에 관한 앨범 정보를 찾아주는데, 유사한 기능을 가진 다른 앱(예컨대 Shazam)과 달리 입으로 흥얼거리는 음악마저도 검색해 준다는 특징이 있었다. 이 soundhound 덕분에 내가 그토록 궁금해 했던 음악이 무엇인지 알게 되었다. 바로 1952년에 개봉된 영화 Moulin Rouge에 나오는 Where is Your Heart (Georges Auric 작곡).

앗, 이 노래가 물랭 루즈에 나왔었군요! 어릴 적에 텔레비전으로 봤던 영환데 로트렉과 캉캉 춤, 압상트만 기억에 남아있고 이 음악은 영화와는 뚝 떨어진채 멜로디만 따로 가물가물 했습니다.
음악을 들으니 왠지 뭉클합니다.
