I try not to blog too much about food but the best Mexican food I had during the trip to McAllen was at Taco Palenque. I loved the salsa bar where I could take as much lime and pico de gallo as I wanted. Caldo de Res (Mexican beef soup) and Menudo (spicy Mexican soup made from tripe) were so hearty and delicious.
Other impressive Mexican food I had during the trip include tripa tacos at La Herradura, tamales at Delia’s, grilled chicken at Pollo Palenque, chorizo burrito from Chipotle, and chicharrón (fried pig skin).
